this is me

I go by Lily, and I’m a senior in high school. I’m a dedicated runner and have recently grown to really love the sport. When I started becoming really serious about my future and made a change to my eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle, my running took a turn for the best and now I have plans to run at the collegiate level!

And now for the title of the blog. Running requires energy and hard work. How can an athlete expect to perform if they don’t have energy? FOOD IS FUEL. That phrase is something I’m ALWAYS reminding myself of. I’d be lying if I said I’ve always had a great relationship with food. It’s not something I like to admit, but whats important is that I’ve changed that relationship for the better. I’ve learned that if I nourish my body with healthy foods, than it will return the favor and give me lots of energy, allowing me to run my best. It really is a simple equation! Now that’s not to say I don’t indulge on a nice big bowl of ice cream every so often..cause I do :).

I’m thrilled to now be a part of the blogging world and I hope you all enjoy what I have to share! Questions, comments, and constructive criticism would be great, I’d love you hear from you!

  11. I just found your blog and I love it! The title and your explanation are so true: I am always surprised how much my running and just general happiness improve when I fuel my body well! I haven’t always have a great relationship with food either, and the number one thing that has helped me move past that is to keep reminding myself that FOOD IS FUEL! And fuel is certainly a good thing!
